SUSANNAH SKYE, LMT #18269
Susannah has been a LMT and bodyworker for over 13 years. She started in New Mexico focusing on Sports massage and Injury rehabilitation Massage. Over the years she has studied MyoFascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy and prenatal and postpartum massage and support, among many others, from some of the most highly regarded teachers. When she found Structural Integration and Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, they both inspired her in new ways. She works with these two modalities and also does blended bodywork sessions that respond to your body, using all the tools she has learned over the years. Whether it's a dedicated SI or ATMAT session, or a blended session Susannah enjoys the collaborative healing work she gets to do with clients.
Both Structural Integration (SI) and Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy (ATMAT) help bring awareness of one's own body and connect us to our deep reservoirs of self knowledge and healing. Susannah's work is about empowerment. She believes that people grow on their own by being given tools, support and increased personal awareness and that the bodyworker's role is as a facilitator. SI is a fully clothed, interactive modality, based on Ida Rolf's 10 series that helps the flow of gravity move through the body in a balanced way. ATMAT is centered on the core of the body, teaching a nourishing routine to and connecting each person to their center with this approach developed by Rosita Arvigo and her 40 years of study with Maya Shamans and midwives in Belize and Mexico.
Susannah holds a Certificate of Completion from Northwest Center for Structural Integration and from the Arvigo Institute. She has deepened her Structural Integration education by working with Shannon Northrup in Hood River (www.IntegrativeHoodRiver.com), shadowing sessions with her, and taking on clients there, under Shannon's mentorship. Susannah's work is also informed by her bachelor's degree in interpersonal communication, Labor Doula training and work, hypnotherapy certification, study of the enneagram, chakra system, food as medicine based nutrition, and her personal movement practices. Susannah lives in the inner southeast of Portland with her partner, Mike, their dog and two cats. Susannah finds her peace by getting out into nature for long walks, creating jewelry or other art, and by cooking beautiful nourishing food for people she loves.
